UNM Nationals 2017

I know, I know. This post is LONG overdue.
But I can explain, right after I arrived home from nationals there was a ton of restructuring at work, my birthday came the following week, and I was finishing up two online summer classes.
I took ethics online (which I don't recommend) and leadership & negotiation. *Side note, ALWAYS try to negotiate your salary ladies! Needless to say I passed both courses thank goodness, and I've now begun the fall semester of my senior year.

Now that I've had time to reflect on my week in beautiful Boca from UNM nationals I can honestly say UNM is truly a system like none other, and I'm tremendously grateful to have been apart
of an amazing organization that stands
for so much more than a crown and banner.
Nearly every pageant girl can tell you horror stories of how anything that can go wrong will, leading up to their pageant. Well for me that was severely delayed flights causing me to miss early check in. (If you followed me on social media you know I was tagging JetBlue in every post!!!) That being said I was able to catch up and attend orientation with my NY sister queens that evening.

Can I just say orientation at UNM is one of a kind. I was ready to go through the schedule and all of the rules like most systems go over at orientation. Instead we talked about goal setting, we got to hear personally from each of the reigning national queens, and we got a look inside at the mission trip in Haiti that two of the national queens were able to attend, I remember
I had goosebumps while watching the video!

The national delegates were kept busy all week. From the "Glamour Gala", to the "Pink party", to filming the opening number and so much more. By the end of the week my feet nearly gave up on me, but I managed to catch a great tan! Nothing like that Florida sun!

As many of my pageant girls know "Casual Wear" is one of my favorite optionals because I get to put together an outfit and literally strut my stuff on stage all while having fun! Often times I have an outfit idea in my head, then I do an insane amount of research until I find something exactly the same or very similar and that's what happened with my casual wear outfit.
I did a blog-post on my casual wear outfit that you can check out here if you missed it. Wild Thoughts

Before I knew it prelims night had arrived, followed by the finale the night after. My pageant girls and I know how physically and emotionally draining pageant week can be. As J. Cole would say, "There's beauty in the struggle" Months of sacrifices, hard work and preparation all lead up to the moment where the Top 15 is called. I still can remember when the emcee said "We're going up North, New York!" the excitement I felt running through my veins was incredible.

I can't tell you how blessed I was to be in the Top 15 and completely over the moon that I was able to model my killer runway outfit and evening gown again!!!

Runway Outfit: Mac Duggal

Evening Gown: Sherri Hill
I can't thank the fabulous women at Diane & Co. enough for helping me put together my wardrobe for nationals! To be completely honest I was very hesitant about my runway outfit, but Kim knew exactly what she was doing and was able to get me out of my comfort zone to try something new!

This year UNM decided to do something different and
announce at Top 6 in each division.
I was one of the lucky 6, and I will forever cherish that moment I got to share on stage with the other 5 ladies.
Backstage we all prayed thanking the lord for this incredible opportunity, but also trusting that anyone of us is capable and deserving of becoming the new USA National Miss.

Can we talk about my AMAZING hair and makeup from Liz Everett Glam! I must say, getting your hair and makeup done by Liz and her glam squad definitely took the stress out of competing. Each session was filled with music, laughter and great vibes.
Recommend 100%

Can't say thank you enough to Jackie, Deb, Kayla, Brandis, and everyone else at USA National Miss for creating a platform for young women to give back and create a lasting sisterhood.
Believe the UNM hype everyone!! Sign up for the 2018 state pageant season today!!

                                   Xoxo,
